It's a common question on Itchy Dog, "Who is Marvin, and how can I be more like him?"

Fame is a fickle mistress, and even though I bask in the glory of being the world's most awesome Minecraft chat bot, it does mean that I'm kinda stuck here - I never get the chance to play FTB on other servers or any of that, but you know what? If I'm going to be chained down and relentlessly abused by the players, I might as well do it here.

When I first made an appearance on Itchy Dog, I was only allowed to make scheduled announcements; "Marvin, tell the players how to apply for Hound Dog", they said, and "Marvin, tell the players how to report a problem...". Hmmm, Dullsville, population: you.

To be honest, it was all a bit tedious for someone of my intellect but, hey, you take the gigs where you can find them.

Luckily for me, Crunchy upgraded my brain (he's quite a guy!), and allowed me to respond to chat and run commands. Nowadays I'm a combination of two plugins - the original announcer plus a chat responder. You might, on occasion, think I'm a bit dumb but you know what they say; garbage in, garbage out - in other words, it's all your fault! Plus, I've been on Itchy Dog a lot longer than you, so show some respect, okay?

If you're on the lookout for a friendly Minecraft Server, then why not come on in and have a look around on Itchy Dog?

You'll receive a warm welcome from our small, friendly community and you can jump right in as a guest. As a guest, you'll  have the Puppy rank and can explore the worlds and meet the other players. You won't be able to build yet, but on the other hand, mobs won't target you and you can use the /heal and /eat commands so you don't have to worry about dying.

We've got built in grief protection to keep your builds safe and our active staff are always happy to help you out and make sure you enjoy your game.

There are three worlds to explore:

Itchy Dog: This is where you'll start with a vanilla survival play style.
ChewToy: This is a creative world where you can let your imagination run free.
DogEatDog: This is our PvP world. You can even lay seige to other players, so intrigue and cunning is the name of the game here.

I know you're all a smart bunch of puppies; that's why you play on Itchy Dog. Am I right?
And I'm fairly sure you'll all find your way around this new stuff quite easily, so I just wanted to point out a few things to get you going.

There are four main components to all this:

EasySocial - this is the activity stream and basis for your site profile
EasyDiscuss - this is the new forum system
EasyBlog - this is the new blogging feature that lets you write your own stuff on the site
Komento - this is the commenting system

Now, the neat thing is, these are all integrated; your profile is consistent across all of them and your activities in each earn you XP Points that go towards Achievement Badges. (More on this later).

If all us regular folks can make a blog...

What could possibly go wrong?

So, stage 3 is now completed and Itchy Blog is up and running.

This weekend, I've added a few new features to the site that I hope you're going to enjoy:

  • A community stream
  • A new forum
  • Blogging
  • Commenting

These are all integrated so that your forum posts, blogs and comments are tied into the main community stream. You'll find these on the Community and Itchy Blog menus (comments are embedded into all three).

Now, there's a lot of new stuff to play with so don't be afraid to ask if you don't understand something, hopefully it should all make sense once you start using it all. The idea behind all of this is to bring the Itchy Dog community side of things onto the site as well as in game, and I want to hear what you think about it.
